I’ll come over and listen. Then I’ll draw what your kitchen could be.

Rebecca Flynn has designed kitchens, bathrooms and whole homes around San Diego since 1997. The first visit to your home is free.

Remodeled kitchen with a turquoise island, four walnut bar stools and two walnut columns under glass pendant lights

Rebecca’s marker sketch, dated 1/22, and the kitchen it became. El Cajon.

Kitchens, bathrooms, whole homes and the patio out back. Nearly 200 projects since 1997, and every final design comes with floor plans, elevations and color renderings, so you can see the room before anything is torn out.

Before, on paper, and finished

Four projects, three moments each. Tap through them, then swipe for the next room.

Before: a beige primary bathroom with a corner tub, framed shower and oak vanity Rebecca’s rendering: white vanity, a band of blue glass tile and a frameless shower Finished: long white vanity with a blue glass tile band and a dark tiled glass shower

Primary and guest baths

Scripps Ranch

They needed more closet space, so a closet became storage inside the bathroom. The tub went, a glass shower and a corner vanity came in.

Before: a closed-off dining room with a round wood table and patterned rug Rebecca’s rendering: an open kitchen with a blue island, columns and a long dining table Finished: open kitchen with a turquoise island, walnut cabinets and teal tile

Kitchen and family room

El Cajon

Too small to entertain in. The walls came out first, then a custom island and built-in storage. It was on the 2023 San Diego Kitchen and Bath Showcase Tour.

Before: a bare concrete patio with covered furniture under a tan umbrella Rebecca’s rendering: a sail shade, outdoor kitchen with pizza oven, and a tree by the fence Finished: eight-seat dining table under a sail shade beside a built-in outdoor kitchen

Backyard for a surf couple

Scripps Ranch

Somewhere to land after the beach. A sail cover with lights underneath, a barbecue and pizza oven, a fire pit, a jacuzzi and an outdoor shower.

Before: a dated double vanity with a large frameless mirror and bar lights Rebecca’s signed rendering: walnut vanity with a black top, tiled shower and dark floor Finished: walnut vanity with black counter beside a glass-door tiled shower

A bachelor’s bathroom

Rancho Bernardo

“Yes, guys want their own bathrooms and vanities, too.” New everything, floors to doors.

Those three pictures are also the three steps

  1. Before: we meet at your place

Free, and you’re under no obligation. You talk, I listen, and we agree on the scope, a timeframe for the first design and a design retainer.

  2. Drawing: I design it

Floor plans, elevations, color renderings and every finish. Then I meet with contractors so you know what it will cost before anything is signed.

  3. Finished: we build it

I work with the crew, keep the timeline, answer the questions that come up, and stay on it until the last fixture is in.

The full process, with more renderings

From the project notes

Breakfast nook with an arched window looking out to dry hills and palms

“The entire home was GREEN! Yet… the home had a wonderful feel to it.”

Whole home, Poway. Out went the green. In came warm colors taken from the owners’ own art.
Walnut coffee bar built into white cabinetry, with an espresso machine and colorful mugs

“Our kitchen is just too small… we love to cook! And we love our coffee!”

What the clients said. Scripps Ranch kitchen, now with a coffee bar.
Kitchen with a shell mosaic backsplash, stainless range and a bowl of lemons on the counter

“The only item that worked was one burner on the original range.”

A 1970s kitchen, San Diego 92131. It went on to win Kitchen of the Year.
Freestanding tub beside a see-through fireplace set in dark glass tile

“Beauty throughout. Ahhhhh…”

Rebecca Flynn in a pale pink leather jacket and jeans, hands on her hips

Hi, I’m Rebecca.

Yes, I have the credentials. Yes, I have the experience. But my greatest asset is my passion. I love what I do.

I got my start with cabinet maker Michael Borrelli, and I’ve been designing San Diego homes on my own since 1997. I know contractors all over the county, or I’ll work with yours. Lighting, color, flooring, cabinetry, hardware, fabrics: I pull it together and stay with you until it’s done.
